You see those announcements// [HC] NichiKitty has been dealt a crushing blow by Merman, RIP!// It’s actually devastating. Here is your Solo Self Found [SSF] and Hardcore [HC] guide.

To start a SSF or HC character, create a character. On Novice Island you will see the NPC Joanna just to the right of the spawn. (New characters are NOT Solo or Permadeath by default)

You have two choices here. Solo Self Found and Permadeath.
All Permadeath/Hardcore characters are Solo Self Found, but not all Solo Self Found characters are Permadeath.

• You will be unable to trade with other characters, vend, buy, mail, or pick up regular characters loots.
• Kafra storage is shared among SSF/HC characters. Master Storage/Guild Storage will show but is unavailable.
• Master Bank is unavailable. You can still use the Town Banker.
• SSF/HC characters can still party with other SSF/HC characters and share party loot/exp.
• Use @partylock to trade with party members. 15 Level Limit.
• Can only receive buffs from other SSF/HC players.
• Bravery Badges from mobs
• Buffs on level up
• Higher event drop rates

• SSF characters WILL respawn when they die.

• HC characters WILL NOT respawn when they die. The character will remain dead when you log out. The character can be deleted in the character menu and another created should you choose. (Must leave guild/party to delete character) Use @logout to log out to character menu. You will be unable to obtain any of the items on your character.
• Some events, if you die in an event (King of Emperium, Arena) you WILL remain dead. Beware. Please see Event Page for list of which events are unsafe. (Bomber Poring is now safe. But not Mysterious Letter Quest bomber poring, you will die in that quest.)
• HC characters will respawn if they die inside towns. (This way you are able to test out mobs/damage in Prontera Testing Ground)
• ** Aura Costumes** are available only to Permadeath characters. Once a Permadeath character reaches level 99, you are awarded 2 Aura Costume boxes via the Achievements tab, then by mail.

• HC characters will receive a “Permadeath shirt” under your armor/costume. This shirt provides additional stats. These stats can be rerolled at the MyRO Angel > Character Menu >Hardcore Menu. The further your level, the more bonuses. Permadeath shirts start with one roll and get additional roll at +4, +6 and +9, with maximum of 4 random options.
• When you rebirth, you keep your Permadeath shirt stats. (Novice with +10 Permadeath Shirt)

• Permadeath points are awarded by leveling, some daily/weekly quests, or can be purchased at the MyRO Angel under Character Menu > Hardcore Menu menu.
